Web Development is not everyone’s cup of tea. Neither is SEO. Getting the two to work together is a super-power, only you as a developer have. On the heels of that post, we give you some more great ways you as a developer can optimise your website to the fullest to be picked up by search engines.<\/p>\n

1) Focus on your Website’s USP<\/b>: Sure, your website can be about multiple things but it’s important to have a single thought or primary subject integral to your brand \/ organisation. A good idea is to do a bit of keyword research so you get an idea of the direction you should build in.<\/p>\n

2) Include your keyword wherever possible<\/strong>: Once you’ve narrowed down on your single idea, try and include it on your domain name, page titles, taglines, blog content, image captions, description content, taglines, site titles and wherever else you deem fit. The more the presence of your keyword, the more likely it is to be picked up by a search engine.<\/p>\n

However, including too many keywords or ‘keyword stuffing’ could get you in trouble. Strike a balance between the two for good SEO.<\/p>\n

3) Link Your Pages<\/strong>: Intentionally link your internal pages for better SEO. Make sure you cross-link your banners, homepage links, images.<\/p>\n

4) Mind Your Permalink Structure<\/strong>: A URL like www.books.com\/7Tfg8eG=erj=#4565 does not only look unprofessional, it is also bad for SEO. Instead of numbers and random letters, add keywords in your URL structure.<\/p>\n

So, instead, you can have a URL structure like www.book.com\/top-10-books.<\/p>\n

5) Get Rid of Flash & the Like<\/strong>: Do away with anything that slows your website page load speed. This can include Flash files, players, graphics, unnecessary plugins. Instead, use HTML 5 which is SEO friendly and does not slow down your load speed<\/p>\n

6) Keep Your Website up to date<\/strong>: Make sure you update your website frequently. Sites with dynamic content tend to rank higher than those with static content.<\/p>\n

7) Link to Other Websites<\/strong>: Linking to other pages in the link list, reference list or resource page tells the search engine that you are a credible source or a trusted authority on a subject. Of course, we suggest you link sparingly as you will be directing your visitors to another site.<\/p>\n

8) Keep Your Domain Name Steady<\/strong>: The age of your URL is a factor for search ranking. If you’re going to frequently change your domain URL or create new domains for various content, your website won’t get the results it deserves. Instead of creating new websites for various products or projects, just create microsites within your main websites.<\/p>\n
