But before you compose an impressive email and start thinking about the buzz it\u2019s going to create, it helps to understand how to get your audience to open the mail.<\/p>\n<p>As someone who regularly works on marketing emails, I have covered some aspects of sending an email that you might want to get right &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><b>Subject line<\/b><br \/>\nIt\u2019s the prologue to your email and as they say \u2018well begun is half done\u2019. &nbsp;A crisp, relevant subject line can save your email from being \u2018marked as read\u2019 and getting lost amid a bunch of other marketing emails. While a great subject line can be a lot of things, you must keep in mind the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spam words \u2013 <b>hurry<\/b>, this is <b>guaranteed<\/b> to be a spam mail<b>, you\u2019ve been chosen<\/b> for <b>this once in a lifetime sham offer<\/b> <b>so call now <\/b>and<b> try now<\/b>. &nbsp;This and plenty of other annoying pleas work wonders at plummeting the open rate. Avoid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/spam.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-11115 aligncenter\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/spam.png\" alt=\"spam\" width=\"624\" height=\"119\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>THE PARADOX OF ALL CAPS \u2013 WHILE IT DOES ATTRACT ATTENTION, IT MIGHT MAKE YOUR READERS POLITELY RELOCATE THE MAIL TO THE JUNK BOX<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Personalize it, Mr xyz \u2013 addressing the mail to someone indicates that it\u2019s relevant. Usually Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best days to send promotional emails<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/timing.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-11121 aligncenter\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/timing.png\" alt=\"timing\" width=\"628\" height=\"49\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now if I receive this weekend offer mail on Wednesday morning or Friday night, I\u2019m probably going to miss \/ forget it<\/p>\n<p><b>Frequency of sending emails<\/b><br \/>\nList fatigue can kill the buzz around your emails. We\u2019re sure you\u2019ve got the best content writers but don\u2019t bombard your readers with emails or other forms of communication. 2-3 emails per week is a good average, any lower than 2 a month and your reader base might be looking you up on Google the next time<\/p>\n<p><b>Double opt in<br \/>\n<\/b>This gives you a subscriber list that looks forward to, or at least doesn\u2019t mind emails from you. It also helps you understand your target audience and its behavior better<\/p>\n<p><b>Content really is king<br \/>\n<\/b>The importance that Content marketing has gained is testimony to the importance of good, clear and useful content. Great copy in one mailer can help improve open rate statistics of subsequent mailers. Needless to say, you have to maintain the quality. Connect with your readers and give them what they\u2019d like to read.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s okay (and at times important) to build a relationship with your readers over mails, you may also keep it informal depending on your industry. However, do not indulge in too many internet slangs, it can get quite annoying and incomprehensible.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/slang.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-11123 aligncenter\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/slang.png\" alt=\"slang\" width=\"513\" height=\"202\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Visual appeal<br \/>\n<\/b>Coming to the email itself, you need to have a structure in place and make it visually appealing. Make the important announcements \/ offers stand out. The goal is not only to get your readers to open the email, but also to come back to it. Remember, open rate also derives from repeat opens.
