To this effect we decided to support the community initiative of WordCamps late in 2016 and were present at Nasik\u2019s first ever WordCamp. \u00a0The WordCamp event series for 2017 in India kicked off on the 15<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of January in the \u2018Youth City of India\u2019, Pune. The event was held<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e Ness Wadia College of Commerce and attendees included everyone from bloggers to freelance designers, developers, startups owners and even ethical hackers all united by their love for the world\u2019s most popular Content Management System.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15021 \" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_20170115_101245635.jpg\" alt=\"The speaker\u2019s circle at WordCamp Pune\" width=\"428\" height=\"496\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The speaker\u2019s circle at WordCamp Pune<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you did not get a chance to catch WordCamp Pune, read on for a few highlights we\u2019d love to share:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The WordCamp sessions at Pune were categorized and held in 4 parallel tracks \u2013 \u2018User\u2019, \u2018Developer\u2019, \u2018Business\u2019 and \u2018Community\u2019 and therefore encouraged users to attend sessions suited to both their interest and experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are 3 highlights from the event:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><b>1. USER &#8211; \u201cWordPress is easy\u201d<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These were the opening words of<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the first and arguably the most interesting speaker at the event-Kumar Abhirup. At age 13, Abhirup is a web designer, developer and blogger who had quite a few insights to share with his somewhat amazed audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He advised new bloggers in the audience to think carefully before making a decision (that can seem quite frivolous) to change their WordPress theme as it can confuse returning visitors and lead to a drop in traffic.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He recommended sticking to stock images along with image compressors for blogs to ensure pages load faster.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His tips to stand out in the blog universe was to ensure you add your own signature to any WordPress theme that you use. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His mantra for the future is one all true WordPress enthusiasts share \u2013 \u201cWrite more. Code More\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This child prodigy is definitely one to watch!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><b>2. DEVELOPER-Coming soon! &#8211; A New WordPress Plugin Directory:<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alexander Kuczek, the Polish developer- CEO of a web app called \u2018The Perfect Dashboard\u2019, \u00a0shared the new changes, features coming to the current WordPress plugin directory to be live in a few days. What\u2019s the objective behind the changes, you ask? Making the engine more modern, simple and clearing room for future development in the space.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new directory is already available for testing on the current directory page. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15023 \" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/IMG_20170115_145031410_HDR.jpg\" alt=\"Alexander Kuczek presenting at WordCamp Pune\" width=\"920\" height=\"517\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alexander Kuczek presenting at WordCamp Pune<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the changes we might expect include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new, more accurate keyword search feature<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new sorting logic <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alexander warned plugin developers to take an early look at where their plugins now stand in the sort logic. (Developers who don\u2019t or haven\u2019t updated their plugins in a while-beware!)<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tag navigation will now be easier<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changes to the single plug-in view <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also shared a few tips for developers on how to promote their plugins: <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensuring tags are limited to 5 for a plugin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use the description section to brag about their plugin stats<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moving installation instructions, if any, to the FAQ section<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>3.
