The cPanel dashboard also gives you updates, ability to access and manage add-on domains, FTP, security measures, enable backup for your files &amp; more. The current version (as of publishing this article) is cPanel &amp; WHM version 66, released on 24th July, 2017. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/releases.cpanel.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> more information on the release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Why do people use cPanel?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As mentioned earlier, it\u2019s easy to use<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helps set-up &amp; manage mail accounts &amp; services<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helps manage domains<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Allows easy website backup<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helps keep a tab on your bandwidth usage<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upload &amp; manage files<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>How to use cPanel?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this section, we will be addressing the following how-to\u2019s on cPanel:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to Update contact information<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to change your password<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to manage domains<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to edit\/ remove domains<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to set up an email account<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to manage your files<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to backup your website<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re new to cPanel &amp; have never logged in before, your hosting provider would have given you a username and password. You can login to your cPanel by typing in your domain name followed by a 2082 or 2083. Example: www.example.com:2082 or <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.example.com:2082\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.example.com:2082<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You will be required to fill in your username &amp; password here.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a typical view of your cPanel dashboard:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18949\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/cpanle1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"922\" height=\"541\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the top, right hand side of your panel, you will be able to see your Username with a dropdown of settings where you can change your password, your language, style etc. It can all be reset with a single click.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18951\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/cpanel2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1901\" height=\"283\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will then be able to see the sidebar which will contain:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Home<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Statistics like file transfers, email account number, domain names etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dashboard for commonly used links, overview of bandwidth &amp; disk space<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">User management to add\/ remove users email accounts, manage who has access to FTP etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18953\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/cpanel3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1100\" height=\"526\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s now address the \u2018how-to\u2019s\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How to update Contact Information in cPanel<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To update your contact information, click on the dropdown next to your username on the top right hand side. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click \u2018Contact Information\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will see a screen like this:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18955\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/cpanel-contact-update.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1343\" height=\"940\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leave all the boxes ticked to get notified about any account information changes, low disk space changes etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How to change password in cPanel<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change your password easily by heading to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Password &amp; Security. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here, you will need to enter your old password before you can change it to the new one.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose a strong password.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18957\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/cpanel-password.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"756\" height=\"626\"><\/p>\n<p><b>How to manage Domains&nbsp;in cPanel<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cPanel allows you to host multiple domain names within the same panel. If you need to add\/ remove a domain name from your cPanel, here\u2019s how to do it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adding a Domain Name<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Domains <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">section, click <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Addon Domains<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if you want to add a new, fully functioning website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18959\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/modify-remove-addon-domain-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"646\" height=\"330\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Domain Name<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the name you\u2019ve registered sans the \u2018www\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subdomain <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is automatically created <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Document Root<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the location of your new domain\u2019s files on the server<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you fill in the first field, the other two are auto-populated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hit <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add Domain<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &amp; you\u2019re done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How to Edit \/ Remove Domains&nbsp;in cPanel<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the <em>Addon Domain<\/em> screen, hit the Modify Addon Domain section where you can:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Edit the document root<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manage redirections<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remove the domain altogether<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18961\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/cpanel-edit.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"314\"><\/p>\n<p><b>How to set up an email account&nbsp;in cPanel<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to add an email account, simply click Email Accounts. You\u2019ll see this screen:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18963\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/cPanel-Email-Accounts.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1387\" height=\"685\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To set up an account, type in the contact email address (<\/span><a href=\"mailto:yourname@example.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">yourname@example.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, type in the domain name (you\u2019ll need to have it added to cPanel before you do this step)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a strong password<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add a mailbox quota <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And click <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create Account<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To access your webmail account, simply type <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/mydomain.com\/webmail\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">http:\/\/mydomain.com\/webmail<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the address bar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>How to manage your files&nbsp;in cPanel<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Files <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is where you can upload files, take backups of your website &amp; manage FTP accounts. Be very careful that you don\u2019t modify or delete files accidentally, though.
