.AU Domain Eligibility Requirements and Registration Criteria
When you want to register a .AU domain name. This article explains the eligibility requirements, accepted ID types, entity details, and validation process for .AU domain registration.
.AU domain names can be registered only by Australian entities or companies incorporated in Australia.
The registrant must provide the following details to fulfill the eligibility criteria:
- Eligibility ID Type: Select the appropriate Eligibility ID Type from the following:
-- Australian Company Number (ACN) -- Australian Business Number (ABN) -- Victoria Business Number (VIC BN) -- New South Wales Business Number (NSW BN) -- South Australia Business Number (SA BN) -- Northern Territory Business Number (NT BN) -- Western Australia Business Number (WA BN) -- Tasmania Business Number (TAS BN) -- Australian Capital Territory Business Number (ACT BN) -- Queensland Business Number (QLD BN) -- Trademark (TM) -- ARBN -- Other
- Eligibility ID: Mention the ID of the Eligibility ID Type which you selected from the above list and click on the "Confirm Eligibility" button to validate the details upon submission
- Entity Type: Depending on the Eligibility ID Type and Eligibility ID submitted above, one of the following values will be fetched automatically for this field:
--Commercial Statutory Body --Company --Incorporated Association --Partnership --Pending TM Owner --Foreign Company --Registered Business --Sole Trader
Note: If your Eligibility ID Type is Trademark, then you need to select either Trademark Owner or Pending TM Owner as your Entity Type.
- Eligibility Name: This will be fetched and displayed automatically if your Eligibility ID Type is one of the following:
--Victoria Business Number (VIC BN) --New South Wales Business Number (NSW BN) --South Australia Business Number (SA BN) --Northern Territory Business Number (NT BN) --Western Australia Business Number (WA BN) --Tasmania Business Number (TAS BN) --Australian Capital Territory Business Number (ACT BN) --Queensland Business Number (QLD BN)
Note: If your Eligibility ID Type is Trademark, then you need to provide your Company Name as your Eligibility Name.
- Registrant Name: This will be fetched automatically if your Eligibility ID Type is one of the following:
For all other Eligibility ID Type values, you need to enter the Proprietor's name in this field. Note that the proprietor should be an individual. --Australian Company Number (ACN) --Australian Business Number (ABN) --ARBN
- Eligibility Reason: Select one of the following options to indicate how you are related to the domain name:
1. Domain Name is an Exact Match OR Abbreviation OR Acronym of your Entity or Trading Name. 2. A close and substantial connection between the domain name and the operations of your Entity.
Note: After you submit your domain registration order, the registrar will carry out a verification check to ensure that all details provided are valid and accurate. In case of any discrepancies, the registrar may reject the application and cancel the order. You may place a new order with the correct details later.
