IP Address Restrictions for Child Name Server Registration
When you want to register custom name servers for your domain. This article explains IP address restrictions for child name server registration.
There are certain IP Addresses which are restricted and therefore can not be used for Registering Child Name Servers.
The list of IP Addresses which are Reserved are:
| 127.0.0.0 to 127.0.0.8 | These IP Addresses are used as Loopback Address. This means that it is used by a Host Computer to send the message back to itself. These are commonly used for Troubleshooting and Network Testing. |

10.0.0.0 to 10.0.0.8*, * 172.16.0.0 to 172.16.0.12*, * 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.0.16 | These are used for Address Allocation for Private Internets. |

128.0.0.0 to 128.0.0.16 and 191.255.0.0 to 191.255.0.16 | Used for Medium Sized Networks. Eg. A large College Campus. |

192.0.0.0 to 192.0.0.24*, * 192.0.2.0 to 192.0.2.24 and 223.255.255.0 to 223.255.255.24 | Used for Small to Mid-Size Business. Also the IPs 192.0.2.0 to 192.0.2.24 are used for Networking Examples in books and Papers. |
| 224.0.0.0 to 224.0.0.3 | Used for experimental and Multicast Blocks. In Multicast, a Node (Computer in a Network) sends a packet Addressed to a special group. The Nodes interested in this group register to receive this packet addressed to this group. |
| 96.0.0.0 to 96.0.0.3 | Used for very Large Networks, such as Major International Companies might have. |
