.NYC Domain Rules and Requirements

When you want to review registry rules before registering, renewing, transferring, or managing a .NYC domain name. This article explains key .NYC domain policies and requirements.

Domain Name Related Rules

Common Domain Name Rules

  • ResellerClub provides 2nd Level Domain Registration, under .NYC.
  • Domain Theft Protection feature is supported for .NYC domain names.
  • For Resellers: Both Lock and Suspension features are supported for .NYC domain names.
  • strong>Bulk Lock / Unlock and Bulk Suspend / Unsuspend features are also supported for .NYC domain names.
  • Move (push) feature is supported for .NYC domain names.
  • If for any reason you need to Delete your .NYC domain name, contact our Support Team .
  • Upon deletion, the .NYC domain name enters Redemption Grace Period.

Domain Name Registration

  • A .NYC domain name may be Registered for 1 to 10 years.
  • A .NYC domain name has a 4 day Money Back Grace Period.
  • The Bulk Registration feature is available for .NYC domain names.
  • Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) are not supported under .NYC extension.

Domain Name Renewal

  • A .NYC domain name may be Renewed for 1 to 10 years.
  • A .NYC domain name has a Renewal Grace Period of 40 days and a Redemption Grace Period of 30 days.

Domain Name Transfer

  • Upon Transferring a .NYC domain name, the domain name gets renewed by 1 year.
  • The 60 day Registration/Transfer Lock is applicable in case of .NYC domain names.
  • All .NYC domain names have a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code.

    The length of a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code may vary between 8 to 32 characters.

  • The Bulk Transfer feature is available for .NYC domain names.

Contact Details Related Rules

  • .NYC domains are only available for registration by New York City businesses, organizations with an NYC address and individuals with a primary residence in New York City.
  • .NYC domain names use the NYC Contact database in the system.

    .NYC domain names use the following 4 Contacts:

    • Registrant Contact
    • Administrative Contact
    • Technical Contact
    • Billing Contact
  • .NYC domain names do not support ResellerClub's Privacy Protection feature.
  • The Bulk Modify features is available for .NYC domain names.

Name Servers and Child Name Servers Related Rules

  • Each .NYC domain name needs to have at least 1 Name Server and may have upto 13 Name Servers.
  • There is no limitation on the number of Child Name Servers you may create.
  • You may modify both Name Servers as well as any Child Name Servers associated with your .NYC domain name.
